99 mille clutch pumping up, help...!

    Hey all...
was riding my bike today... when I get on it cold, the clutch has quite a bit of free play.
When I start the bike and put it in gear I only have to let the clutch out a tiny bit and the bike starts moving.. its also hard to get into N.
Once I ride the bike for a bit at operating temp, the free play has reduced and N is easier to get.

Today I was in traffic and the bikes temp got up to 100C... the clutch lost all its free play and the lever was solid.
I kept riding it a bit then the clutch started to slip/
I pulled over, undid the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder, it did a little spurt, released the pressure buildup and then clutch felt normal.
Jumped on it and rode... no probs.

    ANY IDEAS

Sounds like the fluid is getting hot, like with brakes, can't think why tho...

Well I've thought about it and come to the conclusion...

When I bleed the clutch there is always air.
I can't get rid of the air. It must be sucking it in from the master cylinder somewhere when I release the lever.
I figure if the line has air in it and gets hot. The air expands and increases pressure in the line to the point the slave cylinder piston starts moving.
    Would that happen??

spot on Pat... must have been doing that. I clamped the line down by the slave and the lever was hard.
stripped slave, seal worn, no leaks tho, must be under pressure seal gets pushed out and seals. but when release lever and it goes back in must be drawing air.
Anyways I ran a hone thru the slave and cleaned up the seal, rubber greased and refitted, all working perfectly now, no air on bleed and great lever.
Now to look for another slave cylinder seal or slave cylinder.
Cant imagine my hone rebuild will last to much longer... cheers all.
