Mate do it, I got a 52 plate with FSH, 10400 miles, Leo Vince can, standard can, paddock stand and optimate for 2600. Need to watch out for sprag clutch I was told. When starting if he goes near the throttle then it's a sign of dodgy sprag. Don't worry if the back brake doesn't work mine didn't and still doesn't, will get a heat shield soon. They are bullet proof and for 3000 you'll get a pearler.
Good luck and use the advice you get on here, helped me a lot, there's loads of knowledgable people on here

3K should get you a pretty good RSV mate, if you can always buy from a forum member as you will know it's been looked after by a caring owner.

If you're in no rush it may be best to wait till winter to buy, more bike per pound then!

What is a heat shield?? Is that all that's needed to fix the rear brake? Can anyone highlight the correct thread.

And bribig, you will not be able to stop grinning once you ride one. If you can, go for a Mille-R. My neighbour rides a Gixxer phantom and he still drools over mine, when his machine is clearly superior to mine performance-wise.

The problem is that the rear brake reservoir is situated next to the exhaust so it gets hot quickly and hence the fluid develops air bubbles. The heat shield fits between the reservoir and exhaust to stop the fluid boiling off. I know of quite a few people who use them and say that they do actually work.
They're only a fiver, getting mine on Tuesday
Some people remove the reservoir lid and hang a weight on the peg over a night or 2 and they say this works, others lift the caliper above the reservoir. I haven't bothered til I get the shield as it will only need doing again

Where do you get it from and what does it look like?
When you do fit it, could you post some kind of instructions on how to fit it, better still, some pictures or a small video would be most helpful.
