Welcome aboard R.May1977, an interesting exchange and one that I think you will enjoy.

Blackbird = Battleship (heavy and ponderous)
RSV = Destroyer (light and powerful)

Welcome mate, which Blade was it? oh and you can only post certain images on here, any involving say for example the wife, possibly naked, you can have a bike in the back ground if you have to but it's not essential.

C'mon it's worth a try okay, I'll get my coat.

Use photobucket or similar for pics..

hooked airbox is an open airbox conversion..does away with the sealed unit improves acceleration....gives more BHP and gives a loverly induction raw..check the for sale section link below

Welcome to the mad (mod) house mate

Strangely the guy I bought my Mille off was moving to a 'busa, must be something to the ''change is as good as a rest'' thing.

Welcome, read up all you can on these bikes, they are amazing fun ride. There are a few simple tweeks and must do's to keep them at their best though

    do a search on these.

    battery
    starter solenoid
    optimate
    sprag clutch
    gearing
    airbox

Batteries must be tip top and kept on an optimate, starter solenoid need replacing for an uprated yamaha one, sprag clutches fail due to starting on low batteries and poor starter solenoids ( loud clanking on start up ).

Change your gearing to 15/42 std chain or 16/44 with new 110 link chain

    ride and njoy

Welcome bud! I started on a pw80 too, great fun! No disrespect to the blackbird, it will never handle the same being a big old bus. After the bird, your mille will corner as thought its on rails, you'll be lovin it

cheers bud.. but only got the bird for touring and 2 up but as this never really happened went to scotland and le-man and that was about it so as i was using it mainly for a weekend blat i decided it was time to go back to my roots and do what i do best. and as for the bird awesome ride but just dont get that thrill out of it as i did my blade even when it was registering 191

Hello there and welcome to the zone. You'll have no end of joy (& heartache no doubt) with the Italian. They are just so god damn awesome to ride and sound fantastic. They have their niggles but then so do a lot of bikes. Keep the batt topped up with electricity and you should be all right, oh and if you're using itthrough winter then spray all the connections first as they don't like moisture.
