    Sidestand fix

Thanks for the info on the other thread and sorry for the thread drift.

I've found a very reasonable GSXR1000 K1/K2 sidestand on Fleabay, will this do the job? And how hard is the mod?

    try here http://www.bikersoracle.com/rsv/foru...ight=sidestand

something about an 03-04 gxr stand.
apparently the adaptor plates are better for our model years, the later RSV's havea shortened stand. or you could go the whole hog and buy a trick american model stand and usa adaptor(AF1 racing.com)!!!
    cheers

i wasnt aware that there was a side stand issue with the Mille's?? I read somewhere that from 01 on the stand was revised - so are you guys referring to the poor ground clearance on the earlier (than 01) models??

It freaks me out how much it leans over. I get a fright every time I park up and it's not just me, my mate Andy reacted the same way. I want a bit more length on the stand so it's a bit more upright.

If they lean further than my Mille you're right, I'd have a nervous break down.

    The Gsxr stand rocks.

My bike has sat on Omaha Beach in a gale and not flinched. It's rock solid.
Need a few mods to make it fit though.
On the original it was an accident waiting to happen. Brittany ferries almost turfed my bike off the ferry once because it threatened to tip over when they strapped it down.
In the end they strapped it to a wall with padding behind it.

Hey Spoonz have you written up the mod on any of the forums and if so can you link me? Cheers. If not what year GSXR stand did you use and was it easy to fit?

Actually Rotax are owned by Bomabardier who are Canadian.

Anyway No i havn't done a full write up although i did go into some detail on rsvr.net in the Tuono section.

I am happy to pull it off and post more pics and details if needed. There are 2 ways of doing it really.
The stand i used came from a Gsxr 1000 2003 i think. Not the latest generation bike with the quirky silencer but the previous version.
You don't need the mounting bracket but you do need the bolt.

If anyone wants to go down this route i will go into more detail. I'll happily do the conversion for anyone who is stuck if they send me the stands.

The Gsxr stand bolt needs be be the genuine one that comes with the stand. I don't think you would find a general bolt match from a shop without having to machine it.

I think the 600,750 and 1000 share the same stand but i wouldn't swear to it.

I cant relax unless my bikes on the paddock stand. When my bike is on the side stand it feels like a week fart would blow it over
