    Chipping Software.

    Hey guys.

I am intrigued as to what software is used to write the chips that are used.

I Tune Honda's (cars) for a living (www.dnrtuned.com) and when checking out the ecu on my 98 RSV i found that the chip (256/28pin) is of the same type as i use on the pre 96 Honda's. I have a chip burner, and emulator that would fit the socket in the ecu and a remote wideband and knock box.

I am after a chip for my Bike any way from Dr Rossi and would love to be able to make minor adjustments on the dyno with the emulator using the ecu as intended, thus be able to adjust he ignition and fuel independantly. I tuned my last few bikes my self with the PcIII but the lack of proper ignition adjustment annoys.

I am not wanting to copy/sell maps i just want to be able to tune my bike to suit my mods, A generic chip im sure will be fine, but its in my nature to fettle

I emailed Dr rossi but as of yet have not had a reply from him.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of the software available to be able to adjust the maps etc.

    Thanks for any help given.

Reading the chip isnt my problem, but having some editing software for the .bin would be ideal, I have asked Dr Rossi, but not sure if he is to keen to help.

I must stress i'm not going to be selling chips or anything, i just want to tune my own bike properly, with out a nasty PC3.

Tuning is about fuel and ignition adjustment not just fueling, you could have a perfect 13.5:1 afr accross the full wot range and still have a torque curve like the dane hills, ignition adjustment is key for me.

FWIW, My stock RSV with can and filter is LEAN on wot around the 14.8-15:1 area which isnt safe at all. worth bearing that in mind when fitting a can and filter with out the appropriate tuning.

Woohoo, Dr rossi, came through, and the best thing is a piece of software i use already is what he uses, so i allready had it, who would have thunk it!

I will get the bin file removed from the stock eprom and have a fiddle over the week end.

    Hi Daz

I've been playing around with the same thing on my RSV, one thing I have done which may be useful to you too is to upgrade the EPROM to an EEPROM. They are much easier and quicker to erase and rewrite, no UV erasing. You will need to make a small adapter out of two 28 pin DIP socket or on a small piece of prototype-board as 2 pins are crossed, nothing to the actual ECU and very easy to do!

Another great link to have a look at is http://www.randomexploits.com/projects/ecu/alpha-n.htm
It is on a home server so doesn't always work but when it is up it has all the info on where in the .bin files the ignition and fuel maps are. Robin has done some amazing reverse "engineering" programing of the RSV ECU. Well worth a look!

I'm still bashing around in Excel to edit the maps, what is the software you are using? Does it work well?
Would make life a whole lot easier to avoid all that.

I also have .bin 's of the RP58usa, 549us and A63 if you are interested. Think you should have the A63 if its still stock.

    Cheers
    Rick
