    Filling coolant system ??

Bit of a long winded one this but i could really do with help so please bear with me ...
Ok so i decided to change the coolant in my bike as it hasnt been done since i bought it at the end of last year. I removed both expansion tank cap and filler cap, then unplugged both radiator drain bolts. drained all coolant out (approx 2 litres and a bit) ... i did what i needed to do, replacing a couple of jubilees and cleaned a few fittings, and ive now come to refill the system. The manual says fill through filler cap and says there should be about 2.5litres including expansion tank and the level is correct when it stabilises at the neck. So i got about 1/4 litre in and the level was at filler neck, squeezed the pipe on the rhs and it dropped a little but not much. the next hour was spent gently squeezing the pipe (which made air escape the system out of the small pipe from top of rhs rad to the neck) and then putting a little coolant in. got to the point where i couldnt get anymore in and i had only put about 1/2 litre in. presumed the air was stopping the coolant getting in so i removed the previously mentioned pipe from the neck, attached a clear piece of tubing and gave a gentle suck on the pipe whilst topping coolant up - which helped massively. after 1.1 litres however there is now coolant coming out of my clear piece indicating the rhs radiator is full (highest point in system with bike on sidestand) ... to me there is a massive 1 litre air lock somewhere and no amount of squeezing/topping up/rocking will change this. anyone have any ideas ? should i start it and let it run for a few minutes then re-check? obviously 2+ litres came out so the amount thats gone back in worries me somewhat. from the way they were explaining it in the manual it seemed a really straight forward job ... 'no bleeding req'd' etc etc ...
thanks in advance guys, its the last bit stopping me getting rolling !

Cheers for the reply redrat, mines an 'x' reg (year 2000) 'R' ... i dont think i saw a drain plug under pump ... hmm i'll have another look. how would this help me if i had one? and i didnt realise i could start it and leave cap off, thought maybe it would lose pressure and not work but thats the sorta idea i was looking for ... i'll give that a try first. i may be back Thank you again

Did mine the other day, as said just run bike with filler cap off & keep topping up till full. It gets air locked in the tin can splitter with the temp sensor between the heads, you can always unscrew that if it wont clear.
