    oil change

this is going to sound daft going to do an oil change tommorow, never done it before on the mille.
is it the allen bolt next too the filter housing to drain the oil,or the bolt on bottom of oit tank,
and how much oil does it take to refill with new filter.
    thanks

The allen bolt next to the filter housing is the engine oil drain plug, its also magnetic.
    Take it out aswell.
It takes about 3.7 litres of oil to refill.

you need to drain the engine and the oil tank
it is also important to clean the gauze on the oil pick up in the tank this is where the bottom hose connects to the tank.

    3.7ltrs?

it takes more than 4 ltrs with a filter change

    have a look HERE

Neither of the RSV's ive owned have taken over 4 litres of oil, The last full change I did took 3.75 and that was after leaving the bike for an hour to drop dry. Originally I put 3.5 in and topped up to the correct level.

mmm yes the book says 3900cc's which is 3.9 ltrs.

thats interesting as 4ltrs in mine doesn't take the level above the minimum mark after an oil and filter change and i know someone who had the same issue.

    and thats checked hot.

All I can operate on is experience, ive done 4 changes and never needed more on either bike. Theres still a bit oil left in the bottom of the bottle too. One for Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine lol

I think they're forgetting to get the bike up to temp before checking its oil level.
