    Help Wanted-Exhaust Can Strap

Spent a couple of hours last night sorting out the suspension on my newly acquired RSV ready for a go at commuting the 60 miles to work in London this morning. As I wheeled it out of the garage, I noticed the exhaust wobbling-the strap has snapped.

I have tried the Aprilia Centre for a new one 44.17 but none in stock, and said Aprilia have none either. Tried Southern Cross but they tell me that tyhe strap is not sold seperately(!!??)

Anyone know a firm that can make one for me, or anyone who has a spare I can borrow until I find one? I work near London Bridge, and live North Essex. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Silly ommission there-it's the standard (and huge) silencer on a 2000 model RSV.

My mate has an Akro for one (he thinks) but won't be able to look for it for a couple more weeks

if it's a 2000 bike there shouldn't be a strap. you must have a later can fitted to it.

Nice looking bike by the way!

Can you not get the bracket repaired by your local engineering shop, you'll be amazed at what they can do these days?

I reckon if you ask nicely, someone on here may be able to or know someone near you who could weld that up.

I've not read anywhere that these are prone to breaking on the RSV's, so why has mine? I have gone through about half a dozen on my MZ, although with the big bore motor and the extra vibration, I can understand that. Surely it's not my riding style?

spend less time worrying why and more time getting it fixed, so you can ride it.

I agree with Heroblob, shit happens!

Focus your attention on getting it fixed and analyse the who, what, why and when later.

These motors are prone to kicking out loads of vibes and as the standard exhaust as yours is has no rubber absorbtion ring it is more than likely the cause of the fractured bracket.

And of course you are both right-I'll get another half dozen made somewhere, and forget the worrying!
