    Starting Problem I think.

    Hey guys,

    I have a question about the starting of my bike 04 rsvr1000.

    When ever i start my bike from dead cold and sometimes even when warm. it takes about 2 to 3 times kicking it to actually start.

    Is this normal? I have tryed to charge the battery but it said the battery was charged when i put it on.

    By the way i have my 15t / 40t 520 chain conversion on the way . (for those who read my last post. Cheers for the info)

    I take it that it's actually turning over?
    When were the valve clearances last adjusted?

    Don't touch the throttle when trying to start your bike as this can cause the plugs to foul. I would take the plugs out and give them a clean and try again

    If the plugs are shot, i would advise replacing them with NGK Iridium Electrode models DCPR9EIX i run these and they are the cleanest burning plug i've ever used. Clean startups everytime!

    mines's been serviced plugs new valves done electrics done - everything, even had fuel pump out cleaned filter, replaced starter solenoid with yam part, checked all connectors, new battery litterally everything apart from a new starter motor

    but alas she still doesn't start first time every time when cold, but when warm fires up no bother at all.....

    just remember dont keep turning her over, short start her 3 secs per try max so as not to damage sprag clutch and learn to live with it lol.....

    it's just about to go in for a service, its only got 7300 km on the clock.

    I just pulled out the plugs and cleaned them, but it made no difference. It seems to turn through 1 or 2 full revolutions of the crank then just stop. I have to press the button again and then usually it starts.

    It seems wierd cause it always starts just not the first time. I always wait for the fuel pump to prime as well.

    By the way i want to get a set of iridium plugs wheres a good place to get them from?

    yep mine does exact same mate been fault finding this for ages
    its as though somet shorts the start out after a second or 2
    same model bike too 04

    No worries i will ask when i take it for the service if they have had this problem before.
