Thumbs up Diagnostic Tips For For Front Brakes

Got a problem with the front brakes..... They don't work!

I had the front wheel off last week and when I reassembled it did what I normally do, which is ease the pads back into the caliper to make it easier to get the calipers back on the disc's. All was going fine. Torqued everything up, then went to apply the front brake. I did it nice and slow as I new it would take a few pumps to get the calipers nicely clamped to the front wheel. After about 10 squeezes I realized things were not right. The pistons have not moved from there closed positions.

There is no leaking fluid, and the reservoir is fully topped up. I could bleed the system but I don't think there is any air in there. If its the calipers, is there a way of checking? If its the master cylinder, is there a way of checking that? I'm a little stumped and could do with some wise words. Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Solved It

    Problem solved I think.

Did a very quick bleed i.e. one squeeze on the lever let some fluid out another squeeze with the outlet valve closed and bobs your knob the caliper pistons started to pull back towards the disc.

There was probably something in the caliper or the master cylinder that jammed clogged or would not budge so I'll do a full brake flush next weekend but hopefully I won't need to replace anything too expensive. One happy bunny back on the road.
