    Dealer problems

Does anyone know the name of the governing body for dealerships ?
    ie OFCOM for telecommunications
    ie OFSTED for schools etc

    Havin a few minor problems,
after having my bike in for the works last week ( where they didnt have the right size sprockets) so the workshop manager has said that they need to put the new chain on until the sprox can be ordered, still on old sprox. I then took the bike back monday night for them to change the sprockets over ( me bein lazy ). and yesterday a lovely lady called me to tell me that theres been a few problems and that the chain is no longer safe, and that my rear tyre is also unsafe, Which was put on new on good friday

Any suggestions on wot to say when the workshop manager calls today?

    Name and shame?

Are they an official MOT testing station? If so you can contact VOSA. Alternatively give trading standards a call in the interim and see if they can help or point you in the right direction.

As to what to say to the workshop manager. What did you pay for the work to be done in the first place and when did you book the work in Olek? Ask for a full written report on the condition of the chain and the rear tyre and all works carried out thus far. Set a time limit for this to be done by (has to be seen to be reasonable, so not the end of today. Friday would be considered reasonable for instance) and place your requests all in writing to the dealership via email, fax and recorded delivery.

They are an official dealer, As for name and shame, i will first see what the workshop manager has to say, as it was him who told the mechanic to put the new chain onto the old sprockets ( something that shouldnt be done ) he was not in yesterday and is due to call me shortly.

Will keep u posted Thanks guys

(to add insult to injury - cant ride it anyway as ive got a torn ligament in my neck)

Follow the direction of Caterpillar.......... But as to what to say to the workshop manager? quote Clint Eastwood..." dont piss up my back and then tell me its raining"
Let us all know who the dealer is......and we can book in some servicing and not turn up!

Right, the chain and sprocket problem has been dealt with at the dealers end with no expense to myself
as they have accepted full responsibility (supply of goods & services act 1982 ie reasonable care and skill )

as for the unsafe rear tyre that is not fit for use (according to the lady yesterday)

still has 4m of tread over the entire fucking thing!!!!

As for the name and shame,
Look where i live and think about how many dealerships there are for me to choose from

Taz = Tesco's for bikes. Cheap to buy from but useless to fix anything if it goes wrong.

DK, On yer bike etc tend to be in the same vein. imo
