    Factory engine in RSVR

Hi, I have been running a tuned last of the old shape RSVR with Akras, head work, cams, 57mm throttle bodies etc this year. Unfortunately yesterday it developed a top end sounding rattle and promptly stopped.

Pending further investigation I have no idea what has happened. However, should it look terminal or indeed seriously expensive, I may consider putting a new (second hand) engine in it. So, I was wondering if anyone knew whether the later RSV factory engine would fit in.

I think you can fit up to and including a 2003 engine into the earlier chassis but after that you will need to mod engine mounts and the likes...........................but then I could be completely wrong :-)

Sorry Kiwi rsvr, the bike is a 2003 RSVR. The engine I am proposing replacing it with would be from a 2006 or later RSVR Factory (with single plug heads, bigger valves and mag cases?)

    98 - 01 twin plug heads/small valves
    01 - 03 single plug heads/big valves
03 - onwards similar layout but differant case design (I think)

So I dont think an 06 or later willfit without modding the chassis (Maybe Griff or someone like Cheesey would be able to confirm this)

it is possble to fit a later engine into an early frame
Think you just use the mounting kit from later or you use the early

    But

You would need to mod the wiring to suit
Not an overly big job from what i read

    Coil wiring
Stator But pretty sure you could install the early one & use
Cam pic up sensor is different

    I think thats it
Search af1 for more in depth
