    Ducati Monster 750

A friend of mine has asked my opinion of the Ducati Monster 750, and I do not know much about it. Does anyone own or has ever owned one? What can you say about it?

All ducatis are known for being unreliable matey, you should be ok as long as you are absolutely meticulous with your maintenance.

what a bullshit... yes they are known to be unreliable even though i wonder why. there is nothing special on a hornet against monster. maybe only the monster has much better components in suspension and drives more sporty while the honda or another japs have stronger engines

I friend of myne owns a monster 1000s.

The bike handles great, alot more fun on the road than my mille. The gearbox is smoth and precise, at low speed better(a lot) then the clunky rsvs, engine pulls strong and steady, revs fast, but dont know if something is wrong or its just a ducati feature, when the rev limiter kicked in for the first time I almost shit myself, it was like someone just braked hard for you. Brakes by the way are also great. Comfortable, but above 200kmh on the highway the comfort stops.

Cant realy say anything bad about it except the pegs could be higher for track activities

Reliability wise its about the same as with aprilia, it all depends on your luck
He had an engine failure, some bearing was defected or something, after the repair the bike now runs fine. Nothing more to service than an everage bike, just it needs the valve checking in service intervalvs and you have to change the belts.

But I wouldnt go bellow 1000cc, heard that even monster 900 is a weak thing.

I love the way that everyone on here is so biased!!!
There is a lot more in the world than just Aprilia!

I had a Ducati Monster 750 as my first bike at 21 (yes, I'm 26 now). It had about 60bhp but was a cracking little bike. Great brakes, stopped and turned really well and was fast as hell to 60mph.

Just pin the throttle in 1st and all you'd get was the front wheel 2" in the air.

Ate tail light bulbs, clutch needed bleeding every-so-often and the oil pressure sensor failed- but I've had my RSV less than 6 months and it's been worse than that.

I even used the Ducati daily for work.

Good bike, but just not quick.
