    Hi All, new to forum

    Hi

Just bought an rsv 02 plate Sunday gone (nori rep) after many jap 600s-never going back-absolutely amazing!

My situation is...when I bought her and got her home, put her under a cover and then later unsheathing her, the paint on the tank had cracked due to tank expansion. Minor fix as a pro paint jobber pointed out on friday.

Once the paint job is finished (matt Black of course), shall I source a heat shield for underneath the tank to stop the heat from attacking the tank (bloody plastic)? If yes what should I use to stick it to the bottom of the said tank as I dont want any adhesive substance that may do harm to the plastic?

Thanks in advance for any help

PS apologies in advance if im in the wrong area with this post!

    Welcome along

Is it a real haga rep with the signed top yoke and dual akrapovic system?

Heat sheild isn't that important as people remove it when they run an evo airbox with no issues...but you can buy heat shield with self adhesive backing I doubt if the glue will do anything to the tank...ethanol in your fuel is the biggest danger.

    Hi redratbike

Much appreciating the super rapid response mate

No its def not a real Haga rep signed top yoke etc-its actually a resprayed bike-original colours black, silver red tank...,hpi clear,v5 etc-of which the guy was totally upfront about...but obviously a s**t paint job on the tank!

Ok think ill go down the heatshield route for sure...Redrat that was actually going to be my next question-ethanol....obviously ive never had this problem before so I done some digging as you do and found out it was summit to do with the amount of ethanol in certain petrol expanding with heat from the engine in turn expanding the tank or am I wrong? So which petrol stations supply the petrol with least amount of ethanol in?Ive done some research on the net, but by god the petrol chains are a bit cagey about divulging this information arent they!!

    cheers
