    Port Glasgow eh?
Some years ago, 1986 actually, I was up there for 3 months getting a drilling rig ready to take out Scott Lithgow yard, I imagine it's changed a lot up there since them days, a great pity that the yards on the clyde had to go the way they did. At that time they had the Atlantic Conveyor in the dry dock, it was used to transport supplies to the Falklands at that time. They took her in, chopped her in half, floated one half out, floated new mid extension in, then floated the end bit back in and welded her back together, all that was done in about 3-4 weeks. We have the technology but sadly no longer the work!

yes it has changed a lot since then, there is still some ship building in port glasgow and greenock but nothing like it was back then i remember when the yards came out you couldnt drive between port glasgow to greenock because of the sea of blue boiler suits crossing the road ha ha!
