Cracking day was had on Monday, my Gen 1 rsv with me on it managed to show a lot of newer jap bikes the way round Snetterton.

I was dead chuffed considering I'm pushing 17.5 - -18 stone but with the suspension well sorted the bike was a dream to ride.
I even managed to remove the baffle out of the Leo Vinci sbk can for the last session, the bike could breathe but it was loud, infact a mate watching from the infield said it was the loudest thing he'd heard all day ! Oops, however when I pulled in a couple of older gents walked up and said how nice it was to hear a real bike.

After a good hard day someone looked at my tyre and was stunned to see how good the condition was considering it was the end of the day, I explained suspension and tyre pressures were set right.

    The RSV did me proud..

Sounds a good day. What tyres, and what pressures?
I can't run my full Akra without a baffle - it struggles to meet 105 limit with it in!! But I took it out on Saturday without the baffle and with a new modded airbox - spins up a lot better when it can breathe properly!!

    Hi mumbo,

I run Pirelli super corsa BSB tyres, I start the day with 30 front and 28 rear psi, this is a starting point, immediately after coming in from the first session I check the pressures, I'm looking for a 5 to 7 increase in PSI any less than 5 I let a little out any more than 7 I add some air ( letting a little out of the tyre at cold will allow the tyre to work harder and increase the psi of the tyre, adding some pressure will act the opposite) since working to this rule it's made quite a difference to tyre wear and handling although it goes hand in hand with a good set up of your suspension.

The other little trick that makes the mille a great track bike is Turing up the idle tick over to 2500 3000 revs it prevents the engine getting bogged down in a slow tight corner, it's quite wired at first but once you know it's going to happen it drives you through the sluggish bit and the engine is ready to accelerate hard, watch that front wheel come up weeeeeeeee

Yeah I've changed my gearing (down 1 front up 2 rear) and it wheelies all over the place already!!
I've got the same tyres, I'm at Brands on 29th so I'll try your trick with the pressures. And I agree with your point about the suspension set up - I know feck-all about suspension so I think I'm going to have to pay someone to sort it. I did lift the yokes by
1 ring (3 showing now) and that made a massive difference, much better turning and a lot more stable in the corners.
