    average speed cameras

Does anyone have any knowledge of average speed cameras that are used on dual carriage ways and motorways. Am I right in assuming that they only pick up reg no from the front of a vehicle? Assuming this I would think that a motorcycle would be safe. Or is that just a myth? Cheers

Depends which way they face. I would say as long as you dont take the piss.. same in a car you will be ok..

If you wheelie past at 100mph they may try tracking you down even of they didnt get your reg..

Some cams on the opposite carriageway can pick you up. They cannot register your speed but they can see your plate. If your really taking the piss they could have a look, but like I said it would only be worth it if you was really taking the mick. I bloody hate them but not nearly as much as the idiots that do 70 odd then brake on the camera, don't they get it?

yep they go on the reg plate, i believe they have started putting up rear facing cams just before the speed check cameras, for the sole purpose of recording a bike's reg, not every speed check area has them, so you would need to look out for them..

I know the M5/M4 Bristol speed check area actively do you for speeding..

I know this may sound stoopid but if you go through the first camera too fast can you not just pull over for a couple of minutes and then go through the next one

I did exactly that on the M11 in a van , went thru the first camera at about 75 ( 50 mph road works zone ) realized what id done and then slowed right down to 25 mph to the next camera , no doubt pissing every one off that was behind me !! . then carried on at 50 mph .

that was about 6 yrs ago and not had that nasty letter thru the post yet . it either worked or its just that the cameras wernt switched on .
