    Smile RSV 'Edwards'

Does anyone know of where one of these beauties might be or have one themselves they may wish to sell, for a realistic price, coz if they do please let me know, as I am seriously interested?
I currently have an 08 Factory that could go in the opposite direction if preferred.

    Hi Mate
You cant go wrong with an Edwards. I am totally in love with mine. Perhaps one of the best bikes I own and I also have an MV in my collection.
Here are 2 item numbers from Ebay
    1) 260696805822 currently at 3400
    2) 370460685701 Unregistered selling at 16,000

Do your home work and make sure you get all the goodies that come with the bike.

    Good luck in your quest.

    Jake

    Hi Mate
How about this: 2003 Edwards "No 146". eBay Item Number: 140473055275

2hours left on the auction and asking for 3400 ono. Looks like it wont sell.

I would offer 2800 based on the fact it does not have the original Akra set up. The Eddy Akra set up is around 1300 so that should reflect on the price.

Here is the guys number as you miss the auction.

    Simon:07971958618
    01179561956

Reading the advert I don't think the guy knows that much about the "Edwards"

Let me know how you get on.

I have recently been in contact with the guy and was just about to ask you guys, 'in the know' about why the bike would only have a single sided exhaust set up, when there should be a twin!! Surely this will affect the mapping, set up, etc and the overall feel of the bike?
I'll enquire if the current owner has all of the original bits and pieces.
    Thanks fellas.

    Hi mate
The Edwards came with 2 Eprom Chips, "1" for the standard exhaust and "2" for the twin Titanium SBK Akrapovic Setup.
I have seen many Akrapovic exhausts "sporting" the easy obtainable SBK Sticker so don't assume that because it has a sticker that its original.
I would guess that the mapping on the bike would be "out" at the moment as neither of the supplied Eproms will suit the current exhaust configuration.
Also check to see if its an import as the US versions didnt have the 57tb's installed, these came in a separate box like the SBK exhausts.

More importantly don't rush into it !!!!!!!!! you have all winter to find a good one and I have seen a few advertised lately.

    Regards

    Jake.

mainly 57mm t/b's , stronger conrods and different chip ..did the Haga come with Akrapovic systems as standard ?

but heres some info from the web

This bike is far more just a Aprilia RSV Mille R with extra stickers. The engine has had much of the attention with a new high pressure air box, a throttle body diameter increase from 51 to 57mm, a new Electronic Fuel Injection chip and stronger con rods.

The chassis gets a smart blue anodized billet aluminium top yoke.

more info re haga + edwards rep

    Replicas
In 2002 Aprilia produced 300 limited edition RSV Mille R Haga Replica. The motorcycle has the same livery as the bike used by Noriyuki Haga at the Superbike World Championship and came with a circuit kit, which included a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and an Eprom injection unit.

In 2003 an RSV Mille R Edwards Replica with a livery inspired by the Aprilia RS3 Cube MotoGP motorcycle riden by Colin Edwards. as with the Haga replica, the motorcycle came with a circuit kit, which included Akrapovic exhausts, a more pressurised airbox, an Eprom injection unit and 57mm (instead of 51mm) throttle bodies.

In a separate box is the racing kit. This includes an additional Akrapovic 2 into 2 titanium racing exhaust, another EFI chip and 16 tooth front sprocket for track use.

In race trim, the engine is claimed to put out 138bhp and a whopping 79.8ftlb of torque.

On top of the "standard" RSVR Oz wheels, Ohlins suspension/steering damper and Brembo radial brakes, it's no wonder that the Colin Edwards Replica has been getting rave reviews.

Cost was 12,099 to you, sir.

    Hi mate
I dont know much about the Haga Rep but I assume the following differ
    1) 57mm TB's
    2) Radial Brembo Brakes
    3) Black Powder coated Frame
    4) New Rear Tail design
    5) Slightly different inner air snorkles
    6) Bigger Airbox (Better pressurized system)
    7) 2-2 Akra System
    8) Race Eprom
    9) Close Ratio Gearbox
    10) Front mudguard redesigned

I think that's about it. Haga was Ltd to 300 worldwide and the Edwards 461.
Both had blue Yolks but the Haga had a signature and number engraved into the Yoke where the Edwards Yoke was plain.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for all of the responses guys really helpful and informative. Any other suggestions about stuff to have a very good look at would be very welcome as I am off to see the bike identified in the ebay ad' and no not the massively over priced 16k one.......
I plan to look at all of the usual things like, swingarm damage, engine number + chassis number, frame damage, fork stop dents, etc, etc, but give me some 'Edwards' foibles to check for if there are any in particular.
I have already checked out HPI and the like and believe it or not the current new price I have got from a well known dealership in whom I have huge trust and respect for, for a full SBK Akrapovic system, hangers, eprom, etc, is 1,800 excluding VAT and without fitting!!
If I like the bike I am going to have to get it almost quite literally for a song as to get it back to scratch will never be matched with what the bike might be worth in the market place. Bit of a decision really.

Anyway I really appreciate all of the knowledge shared and advice given so far.
    Cheers all.

    Hey Mark,
Are these SBK Exhausts not like rocking horse s"17 ?
I was led to believe that Akrapovic no longer make them. I have been looking on the Bay every now and again for a spare set just incase the inevitable happens.

    Hi Mate
Good to hear that your making progress with the "Eddy"
Its pretty much like any other bike so look for the usual tell tale signs.
As previously mentioned one of the other items the bike comes with is an additional sprocket either 15 or 16 tooth (cant remember) and depends on what you have fitted to the bike.

    Got a tool kit?
Is it a UK bike ??
    MOT (mileage check etc)
    Tax
    Service History
Any Alarm fitted (if so key fobs, reset guide, etc)

The Edwards is a fantastic machine, so make sure you get loads of pictures and be sure to post them up !!!! that way any small discrepancies if any can be noted.

    All the best

    Jake

I paid 3200 for my ex 'Edwards' complete with the 2-2 and all original stuff. It was a total minter and a cracking bike to ride!

Check the Ohlins fork seals they seem to weap n leak very quickly!

Have a look to see if it has the RH belly pan nibbled out to accept the LH pipe - Good indication of whether it has ever had one!

I have a spare chip for the Edwards running standard 2-1 exhaust. Let me know if you get the bike and I will dig it out.

Have a good check that it has the pukka OZ wheels, the spokes should be sharp edged unlike the cheaper cast ones that have rounded edges.

    Good luck!

Sounds to me C76 that got a 'real' bargain here with your bike, how long ago did you buy it then?
The one I looked at yesterday had quite a lot of marks on decals, bodywork, it had clearly been down on both sides, although to be fair not seriously only scuffing and the like. To get it back to even what I would call anything near nice condition, will take quite a bit of time, effort and the inevitable money!!
I did make an offer albeit relatively low , but in my mind a realistic one all the same. The seller didn't want to let it go for my offer and wishes to hold out for quite a lot more and is prepared to wait until the Spring to re - advertise.
Hey ho, I'll have to wait a while until something else comes along then....
